Has Facebook changed your email address

Has Facebook changed your email address?

Facebook is reported to have changed the email addresses of the users. There is a vast change in the way the user’s contact information is displayed. Facebook has replaced the email address that the users have chosen while signing up for the account. It is changed to a facebook.com address.
The users can communicate with the outside email addresses fro the Facebook email accounts through the social network. This change was first brought to light by the bloggers during the weekend. This was later confirmed on Monday by most of the users across the world.
As per the statement made by Jillian Stefanki, a spokeswoman of Facebook, the site is rolling out a setting on the profile page. The users are asked to decide the email addresses that they want to display on their profile.
She added that, since the launch of the Timeline, users were able to control what posts they want to display to their friends and what to hide. Today, the same feature is extended to the other details that they post starting the Facebook address.
Were you prompted by Facebook to select a username for the facebook.com email address? Tell us in the comments section below.

Gallery Concept Design of Facebook Phone

According to the recent rumors, Facebook is prepping its own smartphone. Some sources claim that the company is in the process of recruiting hardware engineers for a device that is expected to be launched by 2013. However, we don’t know when the Facebook Phone will hit the market.

Designer Michal Bonikowski has created a concept of this phone on Yanko Design to give us an idea on how it could look like. It features a sleek case with the blue signature of Facebook. The device is made of metal and it has a 4.2 inch display. It has an 8 MP rear camera and a 5 MP front facing camera. He has included a docking station to charge the device in the design.
In 2010, Facebook was reported to work on a smartphone. The sources claimed that the initiative was stopped in between due to some development issues. In April, HTC and Facebook were reported to be working together to develop a social network centric device codenamed Buffy. In May, it was reported thatFacebook is recruiting former Apple engineers to build the hardware for the smartphone

Facebook officially launches App Center

Facebook has officially launched its App Center, featuring 600 social apps including Nike+ GPS, Ubisoft Ghost Recon Commander, Stitcher Radio, Draw Something, and Pinterest.
Facebook last month revealed its plans to launch its own app store to promote high-quality social apps that run on its platform. On Thursday at a press conference in San Francisco, Facebook provided a brief demo of the app store. The App Center will appear on the left hand navigation menu on users' Facebook landing pages. The store will also have personalised app recommendations, which will be based on users' interests and activities on the social network. The apps can be browsed via categories such as “games” and “lifestyle”.
The App Center also has ratings for the apps, making it easier for users to decide whether they should download a given app or not. Features such as descriptions and screen shots are also there. With a “send to mobile” button for each app, users can directly download the app to their mobile phone.

Facebook developing technology to allow access to children under 13

Facebook is developing technology that would allow children younger than 13 years old to use the social-networking site under parental supervision, a step that could help the company tap a new pool of users for revenue but also inflame privacy concerns.
Mechanisms being tested include connecting children's accounts to their parents' and controls that would allow parents to decide whom their kids can "friend" and what applications they can use, people who have spoken with Facebook executives about the technology said.
The under-13 features could enable Facebook and its partners to charge parents for games and other entertainment accessed by their children, the people said.
'We are in continuous dialogue ... about how best to help parents keep their kids safe in an evolving online environment.'
- Facebook statement
Facebook currently bans users under 13. But many kids lie about their ages to get accounts, putting the company in an awkward position regarding a federal law that requires sites to obtain verifiable parental consent before collecting personal data from children.
Any attempt to give younger kids access to the site would be extraordinarily sensitive, given regulators' already heightened concerns about how Facebook protects user privacy.
But Facebook, concerned that it faces reputational and regulatory risks from children already using the service despite its rules, believes it has little choice but to look into ways of establishing controls that could formalize their presence on the site, people familiar with the matter said.
